North Shore Bike Park morning lessons and activities for Lil Shredders

Future shredders need the support and guidance of a seasoned instructor to help build confidence to get rolling. Our instructors work with the smallest riders to lead them through fun activities while learning bike skills.

North Shore Bike Park Ride n' Shine

At North Shore Bike Park’s Ride n’ Shine Mornings we teach balance, steering, starting, stopping and ultimately the glide! We even teach riders to fall and pick themself up. All this is done while playing bike games, singing songs, reading books, creating bicycle art and riding, riding and riding some more.

We begin with learning to be comfortable on bikes and wearing a helmet. We talk about basic road safety and also teach the Hug a Tree and Survive program through BC AdventureSmart.

No matter their size, no matter whether they’re learning to balance or even pedal Ride n’ Shine Mornings give riders 3 through 7 space and encouragement while also occupying them with fun activities and games all while learning the very basics of biking!

Balance bikes for toddlers and 16″ BMX bikes are available for rentals but all are welcome to bring their own.  Our convenient underground parking means rolling right into the park away from the rain and snow. And your child’s wristband not only means discounts at select restaurants in the food court access to the bike park all day long!

School groups are welcome!  Let us know if you would like to bring a small army of Lil Shredders for a Ride n’ Shine morning exclusive to your school or daycare.  We can accomodate larger groups with some notice.

Tammy Stothers

I am the owner of Escape Adventures, a company that provides mountain bike camps for children. We build a child’s bike skills, leading to more confidence and creating a passion for riding outdoors.

Now I get to bring that knowledge indoors at the North Shore Bike Park with Ride N’ Shine Mornings!

My background has always been teaching, initially as a Genetic Counsellor, where I helped people understand their genetic family history and with a few steps in between this evolved into teaching mountain bike skills for the past 8 years.

While my children were at school, I brought Bike To School Week to Ross Road Elementary and then, with the help of Rocky Mountain Bikes, to the Lynn Valley Community.

I am thrilled that there is now North Shore Bike Park to keep our littlest Shredders out of the rain and cold but still learning bike skills and growing that passion!

I have been an elementary teacher focused on early primary grades for over twenty years.

I have coached both school and community sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball and ultimate.

As a child I raced BMX and I have been mountain biking since the 90s. I am so excited to have this great new facility in our backyards. I loved teaching my two children to ride and I am looking forward to sharing my love of riding with young riders at the North Shore Bike Park.
